Now, you can have online darshan of Gurus' relics

AMRITSAR: A Sikh entrepreneur Amritpal Singh has launched a website enabling everyone to have online 'darshan' of rare relics of Guru Gobind Singh.

Driven by a strong urge among foreign-based Sikhs who couldn't visit every gurdwara to pay obeisance and have glimpse of rare relics of Gurus, Amritpal, who runs an international trading company in Singapore, said he had extensively travelled and clicked pictures of rare relics belonging to Guru Gobind Singh and posted them on his website http://www.saraibooking.com.

Devotees could have online darshan of Guru Gobind Singh's sword and rifle at Takht Sri Damdama Sahib, Talwandi Sabo, 'jora' (pair of footwear) at Gurdwara Jora Sahib, Faridkot, kirpan at Gurdwara Sri Bhatta Sahib, Kotla Nihang Khan, among other relics.

"It is free for life and anyone can visit the website to have a glimpse of the relics, know their history and other details,'' he stated. Amritpal further said the idea was generated when he felt that Sikhs who visit gurdwaras had to face a lot of problems in getting the sarais booked. "I launched a website where devotees can easily book a sarai (dharamshala) in a gurdwara they wanted to visit and then broaden its sphere by including the Gurus' relics,'' he said.

The entrepreneur said for now he had added gurdwaras, along with his relics, visited by Guru Gobind Singh but would soon add details of other Gurus also.

Quoting an example, he said not many devotees, especially those living abroad could visit Gurdwara Jora Sahib, Patshashi Dasveen, in Faridkot. But merely by visiting the website everyone could have a darshan of Guru Gobind Singh's joras (sandals).
