COURT REJECTS ANTICIPATORY BAIL PLEA OF CONGRESS LEADER SAJJAN KUMAR
Court today rejected the anticipatory bail plea of Congress leader Sajjan Kumar and dismissed similar bail applications of Peru, Mahendra Yadav, Brahmanand Gupta, Balwant Khokhar, Krishna Khokhar and Ved Prakash. CBI earlier chargesheeted these six persons along with Sajjan Kumar in two cases for their involvement in November 1984 massacre of Sikhs.
The two charge sheets filed by the CBI pertain to killing of seven Sikhs in Sultanpuri, North-West Delhi and killing of five Sikhs in Delhi Cantonment during the November 1984 massacre of Sikhs.

Opposing the bail application, Special Public Prosecutor of CBI, Y K Saxena stated that the witnesses have been apprehensive and have specifically stated the role of Sajjan Kumar in the massacre, murder and arson during November 1984. He also stated that the provision of anticipatory bail should not be invoked in grave offences like murder.

The victims' counsel senior advocate H S Phoolka stated that it is a case of sensitive nature. He also stated that prosecution had become the instrument in the hands of the criminals in which the accused persons were acquitted.
Special Judge P S Teji refused to grant any relief to Sajjan Kumar and others.
On February 1, 2010, Additional Chief Metropolitan Magistrate Lokesh Kumar Sharma has sought the presence of Sajjan Kumar and others before the court on February 17, 2010.
Attorney Gurpatwant Singh Pannun, Legal Advisor Sikhs for Justice stated that the legal team of Sikhs for Justice will oppose the bail plea of Sajjan Kumar and others in the High Court as well.
