A big tragedy, an attack of large magnitude?
I agree with what Taranpreet Ji said, and found it interesting that he ended with "Some day someone will definitely look into these ..."
I too, can only look to future generations of Sikhs to get organized and united. I need to focus on the change within.

re: RSS Wants Sikhs to Make Changes in Guru Granth Sahib

I tried to find out the qualifications of Ramakant Tiwari but did not find much – there were too many and difficult to tell who this one is.
I recommend a book ‘Sikh Religion and Hinduism’ by GS Sidhu – I bow to him to be able to make sense of what is and has been going on in ‘Hinduism’. You may also want to read about Swami Ram Tirath Ji on both religions.
It is difficult to call Hinduism a religion as there is not much about god in its Scriptures; Sikhs are taught to conquer kam. krodh, lobh, moh and hankar – Hinduism tells you various ways these were perfected and practiced.
Lies, cheating and deceit are part of Hinduism as per Vedas and Puranas etc. and I do not see a directive that they are rejected.
The above document notes that we use Ram, Krishan and other names in Sri Guru Granth Sahib Ji – in Hindu Scriptures these are used as names of gods but they lived lives possibly like present day Hindu except they had powers like to turn into babies when naked Anusuya was presenting food to the three (Bramah, Vishnu and Shiva) when discovered by her husband Atri.

Sri Guru Granth Sahib Ji uses about 1800 names all used to depict god so that anybody who reads knows it by any of these names may not feel left out.
Some gods were sex maniacs some waged wars on other gods and people – in Sikhi we do not even have Banis of our own Gurus who physically lifted weapons to protect themselves!
Vedas and Shasters have been recognised to have knowledge of worldly ways and science and people have I believe benefited – but knowledge is Sikhi we are supposed to go and find that anywhere we can find East – West.
Athererva Veda is totally dedicated to charm from depriving a man of virility to arousing passionate love of a woman and even denies people food – it may help Brahmins make their living it does not help a Sikh towards his goal.

Over the times there have been documents written to explain these Veds by Puranas, and further explained by Mahabharta and Bhagwat Gita and after that by Sutras etc.
With so many Documents and basic clause that ‘Authority of Vedas cannot be questioned’ the documents contradict each other and contents – authority has already been violated if anyone could have taken any directive from them.
To shorten this note (it can go on as the Ved discussions go) Sikhs can be from Hindu background, from American white Sikhs, similarly Canadian, African, Arab – they may have changed their religion from Christians, Islam, Buddhism etc. they are Sikhs because they have narrowed down the confusion and noise of life to 1430 pages. The life was practiced and shown to people for over two hundred years so that we can work out how to change with time and circumstances but not to forget that all we have is by the Grace of 1God, who teaches us to work hard and share the gain with all.

So Hindus you can be Sikhs to see the light and for those preaching that Sikh scriptures should be changed – try finding faults with the Islamic (thought and knowledge included) contribution included and tell what part in Hindu Scriptures has a parallel that our Gurus missed.

Re: RSS Wants Sikhs to Make Changes in Guru Granth Sahib

Sikhs have firm and resolute stand on Sri Guru Granth Sahib Ji.
Hinduism is the only major religion or way of life that does not have a religious scripture unlike Sikhs (Sri Guru Granth Sahib Ji), Moslems (Koran) or Christians (Bible). I think change is possibly required by creating a single Hindu Scripture with coherent religious principles – and the safest way is to adopt Sri Guru Granth Sahib Ji as some Hindus have.

It is not Vedas that need to be explained by Puranas and many more which in turn needed to be simplified for uneducated into Mahabharta etc., that has created conflicts, contradictions and confusion.

From internet the Indian constitution defines Sikhs as Hindu as far as Law is concerned but not as religion.
The perceived danger to Sikhs is that Hindu ruling class can deny Sikhs right to have their own language, local customs, local law etc.
However there are other states (Maharashtra for Marathas) where they have their own some or all above or not? (I do know most have their own languages)

The direction required is towards educating ourselves and then the majority Hindus who may not be possession of facts.

From Vedas information is available about prediction of Mohammed.
http://ashraf786.proboards.com/index...lay&thread=657
Similarly it also predicted the coming of Guru Nanak and the ten gurus including the Sri Guru Granth Sahib Ji.
http://adishakti.org/_/prophecies_ab...indu_vedas.htm

If the Moslems in India who in majority must have been Hindus and converted are now not called Hindus then why are Sikhs who reject all ‘Hinduism’ stands for, be called Hindus? Sikhs should document this with facts in books for record.

This is where Sikh talent is required to find and highlight these documented evidences and explain to people like Ambedkar – that at the time he quotes the people were ill informed (not much different now) of the differences and now you are taking advantage to deny the Justified category for Sikhs.

Reference:: Sikh Philosophy Network http://www.sikhphilosophy.net/showthread.php?t=29048

“Separatist Sikhs have at times criticized the inclusion of the Sikhs in the “legal Hindu” category. When Law Minister Dr. Bhimrao Ambedkar first introduced the Hindu Code Bill in 1951, Sikh spokesman Sardar Hukum Singh regarded the Bill as “a dubious attempt on the part of the Hindus to absorb the Sikhs”. Dr. Ambedkar replied: “The application of the Hindu Code to Sikhs, Buddhists and Jains was a historical development and it would be too late, sociologically, to object to it. When the Buddha differed from the Vedic Brahmins, he did so only in matters of creed, but left the Hindu legal framework intact. He did not propound a separate law for his followers. The same was the case with Mahavir and the ten Sikh gurus. The Privy Council had as early as 1830 laid down that the Sikhs were governed by the Hindu law.”

davinderdhajal ji,

Vedas can be interpreted in many ways, as can be predictions made by Nostradamus.
Making predictions or believing in predictions goes against the teachings of our great Sikh Gurus.

Re: RSS Wants Sikhs to Make Changes in Guru Granth Sahib

I was surprised to see the two independent people coming with the two happenings from predictions in Vedas i.e. Islam and Sikhi. They deserve a credit do they not for opening our eyes? Or is there opposite view on the subject not considered?
Reference:: Sikh Philosophy Network http://www.sikhphilosophy.net/showthread.php?t=29048

That may be the reason one reason why some western authorities have regard for Vedas.
The main thrust was that if those Hindus have embraced Islam and are now not called part of Hindus.
Similarly Sikhs who could have been Moguls, Sufis and Hindus who converted to Sikhi and formed this following distinct from Hindus.
Second we need to record all the information, like Jarnail Singh has done for 1984, and have it water tight for world to see and comment.

What is RSS is it Rashtrya swamsewak sangh or Rashtria Sikh Sangat.
all such elements raising unresonable points for their political benifts should first themselves understand what are the real teachings of Sri Guru Granth Sahib Ji .Such elements raise points without knowledge.

To counteract these points Sikhs should first consolidate their own House which is in a mess of so many ways. Then no one would ever dare to raise such points.
