A Lesson in Life
Everything happens for a reason. Nothing happens by chance or by means of good or bad luck. Illness, injury, love, lost moments of true greatness and sheer stupidity all occur to test the limits of your soul. Without these small tests, if they be events, illnesses or relationships, life would be like a smoothly paved, straight, flat road to nowhere.
If someone hurts you, betrays you , or breaks you heart, forgive them. For they have helped you learn about trust and the importance of being cautious to who you open your heart to.

If someone loves you, love them back unconditionally, not only because they love you, but because they are teaching you to love and opening your heart and eyes to things you would have never seen or felt without them.

Make every day count. Appreciate every moment and take from it everything that you possibly can, for you may never be able to experience it again.

Talk to people you have never talked to before, and actually listen. Hold your head up because you have every right to. Tell yourself you are a great individual and believe in yourself, for if you don't believe in yourself, no one else will believe in you either.

You can make of your life anything you wish. Create your own life and then go out and live it.

WHY BLOW OUT CANDLES ??

From the very first BIRTHDAY...the WESTERNERS have this traditional custom whereby the child is asked to BLOW OUT CANDLES. Recently SIKHS have also begun to follow this custom rather religiously...SIKH Birthdays are celebrated with BLOWING OUT CANDLES...

NOW fast forward a little bit.... when the WESTERNERS want to SHOW SYMPATHY with a CAUSE...or SOLIDARITY....etc they HOLD CANDLE LIGHT VIGILS.... meaning now they LIGHT CANDLES....and the ones in "AUTHORITY" BLOW OUT these candles..sometimes by FORCE as these lighted candles are "revolutionary...rebellion..against authority.

Now the interesting part .... How on earth would the CHILDREN learn how to LIGHT Candles IF all their LIFE..the celebration is by BLOWING CANDLES OUT. IF a child is told to..BLOW>>BLOW>>>BLOW them OUT...he will grow up a Candle BLOWER and not a LIGHTER. IS this why we have more "Candle blowers" than "Candle lighters" ???

ON the Contrary.. GURU NANAK JI SAHIB....Never Blew out a single candle....Guru Ji shows us to LIGHT JYOTS.... In fact the Entire INDIAN CIVILISATION is about LIGHTING JYOTS....Keep them BURNING....blowing out a JYOT is in fact considered BAD LUCK..BAD VIBES...even IF the jyot gets blown out by a gust of wind...

Perhaps SIKHS would be better off LIGHTING CANDLES (JYOTS)...instead of blowing them out...Jaagdee Jyot..Shabad GURU..Sri Guru Granth Sahib Ji is our GUIDING LIGHT...

There is gurugyan everywhere. Any situation can give us the needed lessons. A lighted candle can be translated (in my personal way) as Audh Ghattat Dinas Renaray, Mann Gur Mil Kaaj Sawarey.
