I think when musical groups do that -- borrow from other groups - it is called sampling. I am not surprised that U2 would use something like a Sioux war chant. The troubles in Northern Ireland and the defeat of the native Americans in the US call forth the same melancholy, same recognition of the nearness of death, and sense of the loss of traditions.
