Sikh Youth Essay Competition - Khalsa Diwan Society New Westminster, BC

Purpose and Objective of the Essay Competition

The objectives of the 100 years celebration of the Khalsa Diwan Society being held by the New Westminster Society is to share with the community and especially the youth the achievements and sacrifices of early Sikh Pioneers and to discuss how they have helped shaped the lives of all Canadians today. In addition to this we would also like to create strategies to address current issues with our youth and to take them forward into the next 100 years.

This competition is part of the Centenary Celebration of the Khalsa Diwan Society New Westminster and will play a prominent part of the event, taking place December 15 to December 25 2006, in New Westminster, BC, Celebrating 100 years of Sikh Achievements.

The competitions details are available through Essay Competition: Khalsa Diwan Society New Westminster – Celebrating 100 years of Sikh Achievements and the first prize is $1,500 for the adult level and $800 for the junior level and is open to all Sikhs and non-Sikhs throughout North America. Please note the deadline is November 22nd as the well written essays will be included within 100 years Celebration Souvenir Publication.

Information and details on the Essay Competition is on the sukhsagar.ca website at Essay Competition: Khalsa Diwan Society New Westminster – Celebrating 100 years of Sikh Achievements The Gurdwara Sahib Sevadars are also asking for all youth to tell their friends and colleagues regarding this competition and any youth going to colleges or universities are requested to post the competition posters on approved notice boards within their institutions and can email essay@sukhsagar.ca for posters or pick them up from the Gurdwara Sahib Sukh Sagar, New Westminster, BC.
