Losing My Culture...

I am starting to feel disconnected from my culture because of my weak pujabi and im not sure what to do, i really want to stay connected with my culture and i also feel less of a punjabi because of it.

Being able to speak punjabi fluently would help that.

I'm on the journey of learning to improve my speaking skills. Seeing it as a skill that you want to improve, lessens the pressure of trying too hard and loosing motivation.

Click through and listen to everything, I like the stories and rhymes.

Also, download pardth and listen to it alot. Even though I don't understand it, I', slowly learning to distinguish between the different sounds. I listen to pardth on my ipod every night when I fall asleep.

Where in Canada are you? There are multiple projects run around the country by Sikh youth groups. If you get involved with them it will help you feel connected as you'll have chances to practice and learn as well as make friends! This goes to anyone else too, it would be cool practice punjabi this way, as there is less embarrasment in making mistakes.

I think you can conference call on Skype too where several people can all chat at one time.
