Afterthought - I think I should add that I, personally, am no fan of imperialism and have posted these pictures from the perspective of purely historic interest. Although I greatly admire the bravery of the
Sikh soldiers which had become almost legendary, I also think that as a community we need to discuss this period of our history and draw appropriate lessons for the future. What really saddens me is that despite having such a strong representation in the powerful military forces of the British at that time,
Sikhs were unable to prevent the mass scale murder of their own at partition. I believe there are important lessons for us in that fact.
