The Sikh Spirit Foundation is searching for partners who share in its commitment to advancing the global Sikh community.

Established in 2004, the Sikh Spirit Foundation aims to advance the state of the global Sikh community.

The Foundation offers its resources to individuals and organizations that initiate, engage with, and implement innovative and constructive project ideas. Project-oriented grants are given with the hope that financial support will help maximize the positive impact of volunteerism worldwide. The Sikh Spirit Foundation also aims to take Sikh philanthropic culture to the next level. By institutionalizing methods of giving, creating processes for grant-making, and holding grantees accountable to their proposed projects, the Foundation hopes its progressive model will inspire Sikh donors to seek more efficiency and impact from their financial contributions. The Foundation sincerely believes that these objectives will serve to increase the effectiveness of Sikh volunteerism for future generations, and consequently, uplift the collective Sikh spirit.

VISION

The Sikh Spirit Foundation is committed to helping bring meaningful and lasting change to the global Sikh community. We believe that there are countless opportunities for growth and immeasurable potential for development. Therefore, the Foundation has not limited its scope to a particular area of community development. Rather, we embrace all positive possibilities and hope that this open approach inspires all potential grantees to conceive of fresh and imaginative projects. At the same time, the Sikh Spirit Foundation feels that positive change ought to be rooted in a firm educational foundation.

Educational projects are viewed most favorably and given highest priority in the grant-making process. We sincerely believe that we have a responsibility to ensure that financial obstacles should not hinder those dedicated to serving the community. This conviction compels us to seriously consider any and all projects that will provide real benefits to the Sikh community.

Submit your Proposal
The Sikh Spirit Foundation’s primary purpose is to advance the state of the Sikh community. The Foundation supports innovation and progress in Sikh issues, from education and human rights to social development and healthcare. Funds are allocated with the intention to stimulate maximum impact and growth.

The Foundation offers two tracks for applicants - the Independent Project track and the Oganization-Affiliated Project track. Independent project may receive funding from a minimum of $500 to $5,000, and Organization-Affiliated Projects may receive up to a maximum of $25,000. Each proposal should be confined to a single project, although applicants are welcome to submit multiple project proposals. In order to qualify for a grant from the Sikh Spirit Foundation, prospective partners – whether individuals or organizations – must demonstrate a commitment to charitable enterprise. First-time grant applicants are strongly encouraged to submit a letter of inquiry to info@sikhspiritfoundation.org. All prospective partners are expected to submit proposals in accordance with the Grant Proposal Guidelines for Independent Projects and Organization-Affiliated Projects.

The Board reviews grant proposals twice a year - July and November. For this reason, the Sikh Spirit Foundation observes two cycles. In order to be considered in June, all applicants must submit their proposals by July 1. Applicants aiming for a decision in November should submit their proposals by November 15.

Proposals will be evaluated based on the following criteria:
  • Depth and breadth of community impact
  • Innovativeness of project
  • Management and demonstration of project execution capabilities
  • Track record of applicant
  • Projects dealing with education will receive top priority.

An 11-member board will review and discuss all proposals prior to making any decisions.
