| | | | | re: Veerji, I need your valuable advice! Bani1313ji,
I live in Quebec, Canada and I think you must think hard about immigrating. If you have children it is better not to come to Quebec because here people speak French and your children will have to go to French school. If you don't speak French it would be hard for you to help your children with school. In Montreal people speak English but your children still will have to go to French school and maybe you and your wife will have to take French courses and that would be a waste of time and energy if you think of moving somewhere else in Canada which is English. It is better I think you go to an English province since you already know some English. I advice you chose a small town. Check the Maritime provinces. They are poorer than the rest of Canada but they are having an economic boom and people are nice and peaceful. Also, it is possible for you to seek a job in Canada while you are in India. That way immigration is simpler. With Internet, this is possible. Good luck. :happykaur: | | The following members appreciate polpol Ji for the above message. | |

I see. Well if you ever make it to Quebec let me know. I live in Quebec city, there are not many Sikhs here, I saw about lalf dozen names in the telephone book but it's a nice place for family life, more peaceful but not many opportunities. Do you have any skills and-or education? Most immigrants go to Montreal for better opportunities but things are tougher there like in all big cities. There are more Sikhs though. Immigration is a big adventure and every story is different. Good luck again blessings to you and your loved ones. As for getting settled once here, it is not a problem. Government helps a lot with housing and all. They can even find you a family who will help your integration, socially. It's the psychological part that may be hard but you can make it. I would be happy to help with the language and paper stuff but only once you get here, otherwise it is too hypothetical, you understand.
