Exhortations to revive militancy

Americans are likeable people, but they have lately begun to believe
that they are the rulers of the world. They poke their nose in even the
minutest cultural events of different communities and countries,
without keeping in mind the sensitivity of the others. One such
instance was the commemoration by the American ambassador in London of
Vaisakhi as the New Year of the Sikhs.
The American ambassador in London, Robert Tuttle, declared
Vaisakhi as the New Year of the Sikhs. The Vaisakhi party, which took
the form of a two-hour celebration at the Embassy's Grosvenor Square
premises, including a bhangra performance and speeches by the
ambassador and others, has been likened to the Indian High Commissioner
in London hosting a celebration for the Red Indians.
Describing Vaisakhi as the New Year of the Sikhs is being seen
as offensive and disturbing. Vaisakhi is a secular spring festival
celebrated in North India, especially Punjab, and is not restricted to
the Sikh community alone. Invitations to the London event were sent out
in the name of Ambassador Tuttle, the Loomba Trust and the Sikh Welfare
and Cultural Society in Leicester.
The head of the Sikh Welfare and Cultural Society, Resham Singh
Sandhu, commented: "Basically, the ambassador is from California and a
number of Sikhs have lived in California for many years. He wanted to
incorporate the friendship between India, the US and the UK."
All this sounds well, but reports are that a few Sikh militants
were also at the celebrations. The militants are always on the look out
for an opportunity to register their presence. That the American
ambassador should provide a platform is indeed intriguing and
bewildering.
As India's High Commissioner to the UK, I remember how most
gurdwaras in London in the early 1990s were controlled by the militants
who had effectively distanced the Sikh community from India. I was
humiliated when I went to pay obeisance at one of the gurdwaras
controlled by the militants. They shouted: "Indian dogs go back." This
type of behaviour is difficult to imagine at present when all the
gurudwaras are under the control of liberal elements. But my impression
is that the militants are lying low, waiting for the right time. I have
always felt that there are some other forces, egging on the militants
to network their support in Punjab and revive insurgency.
Canada is, of course, another kettle. Here, the militants are
not discouraged. Even the government is soft. This was witnessed when
the trial on the bombing of Air India in midair was going on.
Ultimately, nothing came out of it. Some proceedings of sorts have
begun once again because of New Delhi's pressure. But these proceedings
are informal and will take a legal shape only when some concrete
evidence is available.
However, the scenario has somewhat changed both in the UK and
Canada following the 9/11 incidents. All militants, whatever their
religion, have come under the scan. They are operating in twos and
threes covertly, but the governments are quite hard on them. New
Delhi's advantage is that it is getting information about the militants
from London, Washington and Ottawa, a practice which despite India's
prodding, was not welcomed.
The US embassy function coincides with the concerns that some
vested interests may be trying to revive the Khalistan issue. Last
month, the then London Mayor Ken Livingstone appointed a former member
of a banned Sikh terror group to the board of London Transport.
Dabinderjit Singh was a member of the banned International Sikh Youth
Federation (ISYF) and is a senior member of its successor body, the
Sikh Federation UK.
The 2008 calendar of the Sikh Federation UK glorifies such
terrorist "martyrs" as the killer of Indira Gandhi, Beant Singh, and
Air India bombing mastermind Talwinder Singh. Singh was a speaker at a
Sikh Federation UK rally in London last year where banners of the
banned Babbar Khalsa were on display and where one of the other
speakers praised suicide bombing.
It is difficult to imagine such things happening in Punjab when
terrorism has been crushed thoroughly. State chief minister Prakash
Singh Badal rightly took the credit while making a speech at Patiala
that the phase of militancy was over once and for all. He underlined
the fact that the militants, if any, had no support among the people
and that the government was quite vigilant.
He is probably right, but the literature doled out in Gurmukhi
casts a shadow on the good work done. There is exhortation to restart
militancy to free people from "oppression and tyranny." Punjab does not
have to worry about such appeals so long as the rhythm of prosperity is
not disturbed. The educated unemployed poses a problem and the
consumption of drugs by the youth in villages should be a matter of
concern.

ਸਿਆਣੇ ਆਖਦੇ ਹਨ ਕਿ ਜਾਬਾਂ ਦੇ ਭੇੜ ਵਿੱਚੋਂ ਕੁਝ ਨਹੀਂ ਨਿਕਲਦਾ। ਹੁਣ ਜ਼ਮਾਨਾ ਬਦਲ ਗਿਆ ਹੈ। ਸੱਚ ਜਾਣਿਓ, ਜਾਬਾਂ ਦੇ ਭੇੜ ਵਿੱਚੋਂ ਬਹੁਤ ਕੁਝ ਨਿਕਲਦਾ ਹੈ। ਸਾਨੂੰ ਪਤਾ ਸੀ ਕਿ ਜਿਹੜੇ ਜੱਥੇਦਾਰ ਆਪਣੀਆਂ ਸਟੇਜਾਂ ’ਤੇ ਖੜ੍ਹ ਕੇ ਦਸਮ ਗ੍ਰੰਥ ਨੂੰ ਨਾ ਮੰਨਣ ਵਾਲਿਆਂ ਦਾ ਕੀਰਤਨ ਸੋਹਿਲਾ (ਬਾਣੀ ਦਾ ਨਾਮ ਸਿਰਫ਼ ‘ਸੋਹਿਲਾ’ ਹੈ) ਪੜ੍ਹਨ ਦੇ ਲਲਕਾਰੇ ਮਾਰਦੇ ਹਨ, ਉਹ ਆਹਮਣੇ-ਸਾਹਮਣੇ ਹੋਣ ’ਤੇ ਭਿੱਜੀ ਬਿੱਲੀ ਵਾਂਗਰ ਠਰੂ-ਠਰੂ ਕਰਦੇ, ਸਵਾਲਾਂ ਦੇ ਜਵਾਬ ਦੇਣ ਤੋਂ ਮੁਨਕਰ ਹੋ ਜਾਂਦੇ ਹਨ। ਇਹੀ ਕੁਝ ਸਾਡੇ ਨਾਲ 24 ਮਾਰਚ 2008 ਨੂੰ ਰਾਚਿਸਟਰ ਨਿਊਯਾਰਕ ਸਟੇਟ (ਰਾਚਿਸਟਰ, ਨਿਊ ਯਾਰਕ, ਯੂ.ਐਸ.ਏ.) ਵਿੱਚ ਸ੍ਰ: ਪਰਮਿੰਦਰ ਸਿੰਘ ਸੋਚ ਦੇ ਘਰ ਹੋਇਆ।
ਅਖੌਤੀ ਜੱਥੇਦਾਰ ਇਕਬਾਲ ਸਿੰਘ ਪਟਨੇ ਵਾਲਿਆਂ ਨੂੰ ਮਿਲਣ ਲਈ ਅਸੀਂ ਰਾਚਿਸਟਰ ਗਏ ਹੀ ਕਿਉਂ? ਅਸੀਂ ਕਿਸੇ ਦੁਸ਼ਮਣੀ ਜਾਂ ਵੈਰ-ਵਿਰੋਧ ਦੀ ਭਾਵਨਾ ਕਰਕੇ ਜੱਥੇਦਾਰ ਜੀ ਨੂੰ ਮਿਲਣ ਨਹੀਂ ਸੀ ਗਏ। ਅਸੀਂ ਤਾਂ ਇਸ ਕਰਕੇ ਗਏ ਸੀ ਕਿ ਪਤਾ ਲਗਾਇਆ ਜਾਵੇ ਕਿ ਕਿਹੜੇ-ਕਿਹੜੇ ਕਾਰਨ ਹੋ ਸਕਦੇ ਹਨ ਜਿਸ ਕਰਕੇ ਜੱਥੇਦਾਰ ਜੀ ਨੇ ਸ਼੍ਰੋਮਣੀ ਗੁਰਦੁਆਰਾ ਪ੍ਰਬੰਧਕ ਕਮੇਟੀ ਦੇ ਸਕੱਤਰ ਸ੍ਰ: ਬੇਦੀ ਦੀ ਬੇਸ਼ਰਮੀ ਦੀਆਂ ਹੱਦਾਂ ਬੰਨ੍ਹੇ ਟੱਪਣ ਵਾਲੀ ਨੰਗੀ ਮੂਵੀ ਦੇਖ ਕੇ ਵੀ ਬੇਦੀ ਜੀ ਨੂੰ ਸਾਫ਼ ਬਰੀ ਕਰ ਦਿੱਤਾ। ਕਦੇ ਵਿਦਿਆ ਸਾਗਰ ਤੇ ਕਦੇ ਬਚਿੱਤਰ ਨਾਟਕ, ਕਦੇ ਕੋਈ ਨਾਮ ਤੇ ਕਦੇ ਕੋਈ ਬਦਲਦਾ ਰਿਹਾ ਇਹ ਦਸਮ ਗ੍ਰੰਥ। ਹੁਣ ਲਗਦਾ ਹੈ ਕਿ ‘‘ਦਸਮ ਸ੍ਰੀ ਗੁਰੂ ਗ੍ਰੰਥ ਸਾਹਿਬ ਜੀ’’, ਜਿਸ ਵਿੱਚ ਔਰਤ ਦੀਆਂ ਝਾਂਟਾਂ ਉਤਾਰਨ ਦੀ ਗੱਲ (ਆਪਨੀ ਝਾਂਟੈ ਸਭੈ ਮੁੰਡਾਊਂ... ਦਸਮ ਗ੍ਰੰਥ, ਪੰਨਾ 1081, ਚਰਿੱਤਰ 190) ਔਰਤਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਅਕਾਲ ਪੁਰਖ ਬਣਾ ਕੇ (ਦਸਮ ਗ੍ਰੰਥ, ਪੰਨਾ 1267, ਚਰਿੱਤਰ 312) ਪਛਤਾ ਰਹੇ ਹਨ। ਸ਼ਰਾਬ ਵਿੱਚੋਂ ਸੱਤ ਵਾਰ ਸ਼ਰਾਬ ਕੱਢ ਕੇ ਆਪਣੀ ਜਾਂ ਕਿਸੇ ਵੀ ਔਰਤ ਨਾਲ ਭੋਗ ਕਰਨ ਦੀ ਗੱਲ (ਪੰਨਾ 1286 - ਚਰਿੱਤਰ 330, ਪੰਨਾ 1337 - ਚਰਿੱਤਰ 381, ਪੰਨਾ 1245 - ਚਰਿੱਤਰ 296), ਗੁਦਾ ਵਿੱਚ ਭੱਖੜੇ ਦਾ ਕੰਡਾ ਦੇ ਕੇ ਚੇਲੇ ਨੂੰ ਤੰਗ ਕਰਨ ਦੀ ਤਜ਼ਵੀਜ਼ ਦਿੱਤੀ ਗਈ ਹੋਵੇ (ਸਿਸ ਦੀ ਗੁਦਾ ਗੋਖਰੂ ਦੀਯਾ।। ਰੋਵਤ ਧਾਮ ਮਾਤ ਕੋ ਗਯੋ।। -ਪੰਨਾ 1334, ਚਰਿੱਤਰ 378); 1600 ਜੁੱਤੀਆਂ ਖਾ ਕੇ ਔਰਤ ਦੀ ਤਸੱਲੀ ਕਰਾਉਣੀ ਪਵੇ (ਪੰਨਾ 1357, ਚਰਿੱਤਰ 402), ਕੇਸ ਨਾਸ਼ਨ ਦਵਾਈਆਂ ਵਰਤੀਆਂ ਜਾਂਦੀਆਂ ਹੋਣ (ਪੰਨਾ 1017, ਚਰਿੱਤਰ 138), ਜਹਾਂਗੀਰ ਨੂੰ ਨਿਆਂਕਾਰ ਬਾਦਸ਼ਾਹ ਲਿਖਿਆ ਹੋਵੇ (ਪੰਨਾ 916, ਚਰਿੱਤਰ 82) ਅਤੇ ਵੈਦ ਨੇ ਘੋੜੇ ਦੀ ਭੱਗ ਵਿੱਚ 100 ਵਾਰ ਜੀਭ ਦੇ ਕੇ ਇਲਾਜ ਦੀ ਤਜਵੀਜ਼ ਦਿੱਤੀ ਹੋਵੇ (ਪੰਨਾ 899, ਚਰਿੱਤਰ 68) ਨੂੰ ਪੜ੍ਹਨ ਵਾਲਿਆਂ ਦਾ ਚਾਲ ਚਲਣ ਵੀ ਐਸਾ ਹੀ ਹੋਵੇਗਾ। ਇਸੇ ਕਰਕੇ ਅਖੌਤੀ ਜੱਥੇਦਾਰ ਗਿਆਨੀ ਇਕਬਾਲ ਸਿੰਘ ਜੀ ਨੇ ਸ੍ਰ: ਬੇਦੀ ਨੂੰ ਇਹ ਕਹਿ ਕੇ ਮੁਆਫ਼ ਕਰ ਦਿੱਤਾ ਕਿ ਬੇਦੀ ਜੀ ਦਾ ਕੋਈ ਕਸੂਰ ਨਹੀਂ।
ਦੂਜੇ ਪਾਸੇ ਦੇਖੋ ਕਿ ਪਟਨੇ ਵਾਲਿਆਂ ਆਪ ਵੀ ਤਿੰਨ ਵਿਆਹ ਕਰਵਾਏ ਹੋਏ ਹਨ, ਜਦੋਂਕਿ ਸਿੱਖ ਧਰਮ ਦਾ ਅਸੂਲ ਹੈ ‘‘ਏਕਾ ਨਾਰੀ ਜਤੀ ਕਹਾਵੈ। ਪਰ ਨਾਰੀ ਧੀ ਭੈਣ ਸਦਾਵੈ।’’ ਇਕ ਨੂੰ ਗੰਗਾ ਨਗਰ ਛੱਡਿਆ ਹੋਇਆ ਹੈ ਕਿਉਂਕਿ ਉਹ ਆਪਣੇ ਕਿਸੇ ਦੋਸਤ ਨਾਲ ਭੱਜ ਗਈ ਸੀ ਤੇ ਫਿਰ ਉਸਨੇ ਕੇਸ ਕਤਲ ਕਰਵਾ ਦਿੱਤੇ ਸਨ। ਇਸ ਕਰਕੇ ਪਹਿਲੀ ਜ਼ਨਾਨੀ ਹੁਣ ਜੂਠੀ ਹੋ ਗਈ ਹੈ ਤੇ ਜੱਥੇਦਾਰ ਇਕਬਾਲ ਸਿੰਘ ਜੀ ਦੇ ਵਰਤਣ ਯੋਗ ਨਹੀਂ ਰਹੀ। ਇਸ ਕਰਕੇ ਇਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਨੇ ਹੋਰ ਵਿਆਹ ਕਰਵਾ ਲਿਆ। ਜਦ ਇਹ ਉਸਨੂੰ ਮਿਲਣ ਜਾਂਦੇ ਹਨ ਤਾਂ ਟੀ.ਏ., ਡੀ.ਏ. ਤਖ਼ਤ ਪਟਨਾ ਸਾਹਿਬ ਤੋਂ ਹੀ ਲਿਆ ਜਾਂਦਾ ਹੈ। ਦੂਸਰੀ ਨੂੰ ਵੀ ਤਲਾਕ ਦੇਣ ਤੋਂ ਬਗੈਰ ਹੀ ਇਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਨੇ ਤੀਜਾ ਵਿਆਹ ਵੀ ਕਰਵਾ ਲਿਆ। ਜੱਥੇਦਾਰ ਜੀ ਤਿੰਨਾਂ ਜ਼ਨਾਨੀਆਂ ਕੋਲ ਜਾ ਕੇ ਵੀ ਜੂਠੇ ਨਹੀਂ ਹੋਏ। ਜਦੋਂ ਵੇਦਾਂਤੀ ਜੀ ਨੇ ਇਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਅਕਾਲ ਤਖ਼ਤ ’ਤੇ ਤਲਬ ਕੀਤਾ, ਤਾਂ ਇਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਇਹੀ ਉੱਤਰ ਦਿੱਤਾ ਸੀ ਕਿ ਵੇਦਾਂਤੀ ਜੀ, ਜਿਸ ਕਿਤਾਬ ਦਾ ਤੁਸੀਂ ਪੁਨਰ-ਸੰਪਾਦਨ ਕੀਤਾ ਹੈ, ਉਸ ਮੁਤਾਬਕ ਤਾਂ ਗੁਰੂ ਸਾਹਿਬਾਨ (ਛੇਵੇਂ ਅਤੇ ਦਸਵੇਂ) ਦੇ ਵੀ ਤਾਂ ਤਿੰਨ-ਤਿੰਨ ਵਿਆਹ ਕਰਵਾਏ ਹੋਏ ਹਨ ਅਤੇ ਜੇ ਮੈਂ ਤਿੰਨ ਵਿਆਹ ਕਰਵਾ ਲਏ ਹਨ ਤਾਂ ਕੀ ਲੋਹੜਾ ਆ ਗਿਆ? ਇਹ ਸੁਣ ਵੇਦਾਂਤੀ ਜੀ ਝੱਗ ਵਾਂਗਰ ਬਹਿ ਗਏ।
ਸ੍ਰ: ਦਲਜੀਤ ਸਿੰਘ, ਜਿਹੜੇ ਰਾਚਿਸਟਰ ਵਿੱਚ ਪਹਿਲਵਾਨ ਕਰਕੇ ਜਾਣੇ ਜਾਂਦੇ ਹਨ, ਨੂੰ ਨਾਲ ਲੈ ਕੇ ਅਸੀਂ ਸ੍ਰ: ਪਰਮਿੰਦਰ ਸਿੰਘ ਸੋਚ ਦੇ ਘਰ ਤਕਰੀਬਨ ਦੋ ਕੁ ਵਜੇ ਪਹੁੰਚ ਗਏ। ਉਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਦਾ ਸ਼ੁਰੂ ਤੋਂ ਹੀ ਸਾਰਾ ਜ਼ੋਰ ਇਸ ਗੱਲ ’ਤੇ ਲੱਗ ਗਿਆ ਕਿ ਜਾਬਾਂ ਦਾ ਭੇੜ ਨਹੀਂ ਕਰੀਦਾ, ਕਾਨਟ੍ਰੋਵਰਸੀ (ਵਿਵਾਦ) ਵਿੱਚ ਨਹੀਂ ਪਈਦਾ, ਦੂਜੇ ਦੀ ਲਕੀਰ ਨੂੰ ਕੱਟ ਕੇ ਛੋਟਾ ਨਹੀਂ ਕਰੀਦਾ ਅਤੇ ਆਪਣੀ ਲਕੀਰ ਲੰਬੀ ਖਿੱਚੀਦੀ ਹੈ ਆਦਿ। ਉਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਓਹ ਸਾਰੀਆਂ ਗੱਲਾਂ ਸਾਨੂੰ ਸਮਝਾਈਆਂ ਜਿਹੜੀਆਂ ਅੱਜਕਲ੍ਹ ਦੇ ਵਿਦਵਾਨ ਤੇ ਸਿਆਣ ਲੋਕ ਕਰਦੇ ਹਨ ਪਰ ਅਪਣੇ ਗੁਰੂ ਦੀ ਗੱਲ ਤੋਂ ਮੁਨਕਰ ਹਨ। ਗੁਰੂ ਦਾ ਸਿਧਾਂਤ ਜਾਏ ਢੱਠੇ ਖੂਹ ’ਚ ਸਾਡੀ ਰਹਿੰਦੀ-ਖੂੰਹਦੀ ਜ਼ਿੰਦਗੀ ਚੰਗੀ ਬਤੀਤ ਹੋਣੀ ਚਾਹੀਦੀ ਹੈ - ਬਾਕੀ ਸਭ ਕਾਸੇ ਨਾਲ ਸਾਡਾ ਕੋਈ ਵਾਸਤਾ ਨਹੀਂ।
ਜੱਥੇਦਾਰ ਜੀ ਦੇ ਪਧਾਰਨ ਤੋਂ 10-15 ਮਿਨਟਾਂ ਬਾਅਦ ਅਸੀਂ ਇਹ ਸੋਚ ਰਹੇ ਸੀ ਕਿ ਘਰ ਵਾਲੇ ਕਹਿਣਗੇ ਕਿ ਬਾਹਰੋਂ ਆਏ ਸੱਜਣੋਂ, ਹੁਣ ਤੁਸੀਂ ਜੱਥੇਦਾਰ ਇਕਬਾਲ ਸਿੰਘ ਪਟਨਾ ਵਾਲਿਆਂ ਨੂੰ ਸਵਾਲ ਕਰ ਸਕਦੇ ਹੋ। ਪਰ ਅਜਿਹਾ ਕੁਝ ਨਹੀਂ ਹੋਇਆ। ਜਦੋਂ ਅਸੀਂ ਇਹ ਮਹਿਸੂਸ ਕੀਤਾ ਕਿ ਘਰ ਵਾਲੇ ਵੀ ਕੋਈ ਗੱਲਬਾਤ ਨਹੀਂ ਕਰਦੇ ਤਾਂ ਮੈਂ ਆਪ ਹੀ ਗੱਲ ਸ਼ੁਰੂ ਕਰਨ ਦੀ ਕੋਸ਼ਿਸ਼ ਕਰਦਿਆਂ ਕਿਹਾ, ‘‘ਜੱਥੇਦਾਰ ਜੀ ! ਅਸੀਂ ਤੁਹਾਡੇ ਨਾਲ ਤੁਹਾਡੇ ਹੀ ਮਕਬੂਲ ਵਿਸ਼ੇ ’ਤੇ ਗੱਲ ਕਰਨੀ ਚਾਹੁੰਦੇ ਹਾਂ।’’ ਜਵਾਬ ਸੀ, ‘‘ਮੈਂ ਤੁਹਾਡੀ ਕਿਸੇ ਗੱਲ ਦਾ ਜਵਾਬ ਨਹੀਂ ਦੇਣਾ। ਮੈਂ ਦੇਖ ਲਿਆ ਹੈ ਕਿ ਤੁਹਾਡੇ ’ਚ ਸ਼ਰਧਾ ਕਿਤਨੀ ਕੁ ਹੈ।’’ ਉਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਇਹ ਗੱਲ ਇਸਲਈ ਕਹੀ ਕਿਉਂਕਿ ਜੱਥੇਦਾਰ ਜੀ ਜਦੋਂ ਪਧਾਰੇ ਸਨ ਤਾਂ ਅਸੀਂ ਕਿਸੇ ਨੇ ਵੀ ਉਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਦੇ ਪੈਰੀਂ ਹੱਥ ਨਹੀਂ ਸੀ ਲਾਇਆ ਤੇ ਗੁਰੂ ਦੀ ਬਖਸ਼ੀ ਹੋਈ ਫਤਹਿ ਹੀ ਬੁਲਾਈ ਸੀ। ਸਾਧ, ਸੰਤ, ਬਾਬੇ ਤੇ ਸਾਰੇ ਅਖੌਤੀ ਜੱਥੇਦਾਰ ਤੇ ਹੋਰ ਟਟਪੂੰਜੀਏ ਜਿਹੜੇ ਆਪਣੇ ਪੈਰੀਂ ਹੱਥ ਲਵਾਉਣ ਦੇ ਚਾਹਵਾਨ ਹਨ, ਜੇਕਰ ਉਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਫਤਹਿ ਬੁਲਾ ਦਿੱਤੀ ਜਾਵੇ ਤਾਂ ਉਹ ਸਮਝ ਜਾਂਦੇ ਹਨ ਕਿ ਇਹ ਲੋਕ ਕੋਈ ਬਿਪਤਾ ਖੜੀ ਕਰਨਗੇ। ਇਸੇ ਖਦਸ਼ੇ ਨਾਲ ਉਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਨੂੰ 104 ਡਿਗਰੀ ਬੁਖਾਰ ਚੜ੍ਹ ਜਾਂਦਾ ਹੈ ਤੇ ਘੂਕੀ ਨਾਲ ਬਰੜ-ਬਰੜ ਕਰਨ ਲੱਗ ਜਾਂਦੇ ਹਨ।
99 ਫੀਸਦੀ ਸਿੱਖਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਸ਼ਰਧਾ ਦੇ ਮਤਲਬ ਦਾ ਪਤਾ ਨਹੀਂ ਤੇ ਇਸ ਪਟਨੇ ਵਾਲੇ ਕਹਿੰਦੇ-ਕਹਾਉਂਦੇ ਜੱਥੇਦਾਰ ਨੇ ਵੀ ਓਹੋ ਚੰਦ ਚਾੜ੍ਹਿਆ, ਜੋ ਆਮ ਲੋਕ ਚਾੜ੍ਹਦੇ ਹਨ। ਫਿਰ ਮੈਂ ਪੁੱਛ ਹੀ ਲਿਆ ਕਿ ‘‘ਜੱਥੇਦਾਰ ਜੀ, ਸ਼ਰਧਾ ਤੋਂ ਤੁਸੀਂ ਕੀ ਮਤਲਬ ਕੱਢਦੇ ਹੋ?’’ ਤਾਂ ਓਹ ਸਪਸ਼ਟ ਲਫ਼ਜ਼ਾਂ ਵਿੱਚ ਆਖਣ ਲੱਗੇ ‘‘ਵਿਸ਼ਵਾਸ’’। ਮੈਂ ਕਿਹਾ, ‘‘ਇਸ ਤਰ੍ਹਾਂ ਕਰਕੇ ਤੁਸੀਂ ਲੋਕਾਂ ਨੇ ਗੁਰੂ ਨਾਨਕ ਸਾਹਿਬ ਦੇ ਸਿੱਖੀ ਦੇ ਮਹਿਲ ਦੀ ਇਕ-ਇਕ ਇੱਟ ਨੂੰ ਕੱਢ ਕੇ ਸੁੱਟ ਦਿੱਤੀ ਹੈ ਤੇ ਸਿੱਖੀ ਦਾ ਮਹਿਲ ਢਾਹ-ਢੇਰੀ ਕਰ ਦਿੱਤਾ ਹੈ। ਮੈਨੂੰ ਆਸ ਹੈ ਕਿ ਤੁਸੀਂ ਸੋਹਿਲਾ ਬਾਣੀ ਦਾ ਪਾਠ ਕਰਦੇ ਹੋਵੋਗੇ ਤੇ ਇਹ ਪੰਗਤੀਆਂ ਵੀ ਪੜ੍ਹਦੇ ਹੋਵੋਗੇ ਕਿ - ਅੰਤਰਜਾਮੀ ਪੁਰਖ ਬਿਧਾਤੇ ਸਰਧਾ ਮਨ ਕੀ ਪੂਰੇ।। ਨਾਨਕ ਦਾਸੁ ਇਹੈ ਸੁਖੁ ਮਾਗੈ ਮੋ ਕਉ ਕਰਿ ਸੰਤਨ ਕੀ ਧੂਰੇ।। ਗੁਰੂ ਗ੍ਰੰਥ ਸਾਹਿਬ ਵਿੱਚ 39 ਵਾਰੀ ‘ਸਰਧਾ’ ਲਫ਼ਜ਼ ਆਉਂਦਾ ਹੈ ਤੇ ਇਸਦਾ ਮਤਲਬ ਹੈ ਇੱਛਾ ਜਾਂ ਮਨ ਵਿੱਚ ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਪ੍ਰਤੀ ਚੇਟਕ ਲਾਉਣੀ। ‘ਸਰਧਾ’ ਨੂੰ ਕਿਸੇ ਵੀ ਪੰਗਤੀ ਵਿੱਚ ਵਿਸ਼ਵਾਸ ਦੇ ਰੂਪ ਵਿੱਚ ਨਹੀਂ ਵਰਤਿਆ ਗਿਆ।’’ ਇਹ ਹੈ ਸਾਡੇ ਸਿੱਖੀ ਦੇ ਅਖੌਤੀ ਵੱਡੇ ਥੰਮਾਂ ਦੇ ਗਿਆਨ ਦਾ ਹਾਲ?
ਜੱਥੇਦਾਰ ਜੀ ਸਵਾਲ-ਜਵਾਬ ਦੇ ਮੂਡ ਵਿੱਚ ਨਾ ਹੋਣ ਦੇ ਬਾਵਜੂਦ ਵੀ ਮੈਂ ਆਪਣੀ ਪਟਾਰੀ ਖੋਲ੍ਹ ਕੇ ਬੈਠ ਗਿਆ ਤੇ ਪਹਿਲਾ ਸਵਾਲ ਕੀਤਾ, ‘‘ਤੁਸੀਂ ਸਾਰੇ ‘ਦਸਮ ਗ੍ਰੰਥ’ ਨੂੰ ਗੁਰੂ ਗੋਬਿੰਦ ਸਿੰਘ ਜੀ ਕ੍ਰਿਤ ਮੰਨਦੇ ਹੋ ਪਰ ਭਾਈ ਕਾਨ੍ਹ ਸਿੰਘ ਨਾਭਾ ਆਪਣੇ ਮਹਾਨ ਕੋਸ਼ ਵਿੱਚ ਪੰਨਾ 295 ਤੇ ਫੁੱਟਨੋਟ ਵਿੱਚ ਲਿਖਦੇ ਹਨ ਕਿ ਪੰਡਿਤ ਰਾਮ ਕ੍ਰਿਸ਼ਨ ਦਾ ਰਚਿਆ ‘ਭਾਗਵਤੀ ਪਦਯ ਪੁਸ਼ਪਾਂਜਲੀ’ ਬਹੁਤ ਪੁਰਾਣਾ ਹੈ, ਜਿਸਦੇ 30 ਤ੍ਰਿਭੰਗੀ ਛੰਦ ਹਨ। ਇਸੇ ਦਾ ਸਵਤੰਤ੍ਰ ਅਨੁਵਾਦ ਅਕਾਲ ਉਸਤਤਿ ਦਾ ਪਾਠ ਹੈ; ਜੋ ਲੇਖਕ ਪ੍ਰਮੋਦ ਨਾਲ ਦੂਜੇ ਚੰਡੀ ਚਰਿੱਤਰ ਵਿੱਚ ਨਹੀਂ ਲਿਖਿਆ ਗਿਆ। (ਨੋਟ : ਸਾਰੇ ਸਿੱਖਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਅਪੀਲ ਹੈ ਕਿ ਉਹ ‘ਮਹਾਨ ਕੋਸ਼’ ਵਿੱਚ ਇਹ ਟਿੱਪਣੀ ਖ਼ੁਦ ਪੜ੍ਹਨ ਦੀ ਖੇਚਲ ਕਰਨ)।’’ ਇਸ ਸੰਦਰਭ ਵਿੱਚ ਗਿ: ਇਕਬਾਲ ਸਿੰਘ ਝੁੰਝਲਾ ਕੇ ਕਹਿਣ ਲੱਗੇ, ‘‘ਕੀ ਭਾਈ ਕਾਨ੍ਹ ਸਿੰਘ ਨਾਭਾ (ਇਸ ਅਨੁਵਾਦ ਵੇਲੇ) ਕੋਲ ਬੈਠੇ ਸਨ?’’ ਸਵਾਲ ਦਾ ਜਵਾਬ ਦੇਖੋ ਕੈਸਾ ਭੱਦਾ ਹੈ ਪਰ ਅਖੌਤੀ ਜੱਥੇਦਾਰ ਜੀ ਜਾਂ ਉਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਦੀ ਨਸਲ ਦੇ ਹੋਰਨਾਂ ‘‘ਸ਼ਰਧਾਲੂਆਂ’’ ਨੂੰ ਪੁੱਛਿਆ ਜਾਏ ਕਿ ਜਦ ਗੁਰੂ ਗੋਬਿੰਦ ਸਿੰਘ ਜੀ ਕਥਿਤ ਰੂਪ ਵਿੱਚ ਦਸਮ ਗ੍ਰੰਥ ਲਿਖ ਰਹੇ ਸਨ, ਤਾਂ ਕੀ ਤੁਸੀਂ ਕੋਲ ਬੈਠੇ ਸੀ, ਜੋ ਏਨੀ ਦ੍ਰਿੜ੍ਹਤਾ ਨਾਲ ਇਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਕਾਮ-ਉਕਸਾਊ ਲਿਖਤਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਗੁਰੂ ਸਾਹਿਬ ਦੇ ਨਾਮ ’ਤੇ ਮੜ੍ਹ ਰਹੇ ਹੋ?
ਮੈਂ ਕਿਹਾ, ‘‘ਇਹ ‘ਭਾਗਵਤੀ ਪਦਯ ਪੁਸ਼ਪਾਂਜਲੀ’ ਗ੍ਰੰਥ ਬਹੁਤ ਪੁਰਾਣਾ ਹੈ। ਹੋ ਸਕਦਾ ਹੈ ਕਿ ਮਿਲਦਾ ਹੀ ਨਾ ਹੋਵੇ। ਪਰ ‘ਗੀਤਾ’ ਤਾਂ ਆਪਣੇ ਕੋਲ ਹੈ। ਮਾਰਕੰਡੇ ਪੁਰਾਣ, ਜੋ ਦਸਮ ਗ੍ਰੰਥ ਦੇ ਪੰਨਾ 74 ਤੋਂ ਸ਼ੁਰੂ ਹੋ ਕੇ ਪੰਨਾ 98 ਤੱਕ ਚਲਦਾ ਹੈ, ਭਾਗਵਤ ਗੀਤਾ ਦੇ 700 ਸਲੋਕਾਂ ਦਾ ਉਲੱਥਾ ਹੈ। ਦਸਮ ਗ੍ਰੰਥ ਦਾ ਲਿਖਾਰੀ ਆਪ ਇੰਞ ਲਿਖਦਾ ਹੈ :
ਗ੍ਰੰਥ ਸਤਿਸਯ ਕੋ ਕਰਿੳ ਜਾ ਸਮ ਅਵਰੁ ਨਾ ਕੋਇ।।
ਜਿਹ ਨਮਿਤ ਕਵਿ ਨੇ ਕਹਿਓ ਸੁ ਦੇਹ ਚੰਡਿਕਾ ਸੋਇ।।233।।
ਇਹ ਗੱਲ ਕੋਈ ਕਵੀ ਕਹਿ ਰਿਹਾ ਹੈ, ਗੁਰੂ ਜੀ ਨਹੀਂ। ਇਸੇ ਹੀ ਤਰ੍ਹਾਂ ਹੋਰ ਕਈ ਬਾਣੀਆਂ ਹਨ, ਜਿਹੜੀਆਂ ਕਵੀ ਰਾਮ ਤੇ ਸਿਯਾਮ ਦੀਆਂ ਲਿਖੀਆਂ ਹੋਈਆਂ ਹਨ, ਜਿਵੇਂ ਪੰਨਾ 1245 ’ਤੇ ਲਿਖਿਆ ਹੋਇਆ ਹੈ ਕਿ :
ਸੁ ਕਬਿ ਸਯਾਮ ਪੂਰਨ ਭਯੋ ਤਬ ਹੀ ਕਥਾ ਪ੍ਰਸੰਗ।।
ਇਸ ਤੋਂ ਬਾਅਦ ਕੁਝ ਗਰਮਾ-ਗਰਮੀ ਹੋਈ ਤੇ ਜੱਥੇਦਾਰ ਜੀ ਕਹਿਣ ਲੱਗੇ ਕਿ ਅਸੀਂ ਤੁਹਾਡੀ ਕਿਸੇ ਵੀ ਗੰਲ ਦਾ ਜਵਾਬ ਨਹੀਂ ਦੇਣਾ। ਸ੍ਰ: ਦਲਜੀਤ ਸਿੰਘ ਪਹਿਲਵਾਨ ਜੀ ਕਹਿਣ ਲੱਗੇ ਕਿ ਤੁਸੀਂ ਸਾਡੇ ਜੱਥੇਦਾਰ ਹੋ। ਜੇ ਤੁਸੀਂ ਸਾਡੀਆਂ ਗੱਲਾਂ ਦਾ ਜਵਾਬ ਨਹੀਂ ਦੇਵੋਗੇ - ਤਾਂ ਹੋਰ ਕੌਣ ਦੇਵੇਗਾ? ਜੱਥੇਦਾਰ ਜੀ ਦਾ ਜਵਾਬ ਸੀ, ‘‘ਤੇਰੀ ਸ਼ਕਲ ਜੱਥੇਦਾਰ ਨਾਲ ਗੱਲ ਕਰਨ ਵਾਲੀ ਹੈ। ਮੂੰਹ-ਸਿਰ ਮੁੰਨਾ ਕੇ ਜੱਥੇਦਾਰ ਬਣਦਾ ਪਿਆ ਹੈ। ਕਾਹਦੀ ਸਿੱਖਿਆ ਦੇਓ - ਤੈਨੂੰ ਅਕਲ ਨਹੀਂ ਹੇ।’’ ਇਹ ਹੈ ਸਾਡੇ ਜੱਥੇਦਾਰਾਂ ਦੀ ਮਿਠਾਸ ਭਰੀ ਸ਼ਬਦਾਵਲੀ। ਮੈਂ ਕਿਹਾ, ‘‘ਇਹ ਵੀ ਤੁਹਾਡੀ ਹੀ ਮਿਹਰਬਾਨੀ ਹੈ। ਜੇ ਤੁਸੀਂ ਸਾਨੂੰ ਕੁਝ ਸਿਖਾਇਆ ਹੁੰਦਾ, ਤਾਂ ਇਹ ਕੁਝ ਨਾ ਵਾਪਰਦਾ।’’ ਬਸ ਫਿਰ ਕੀ ਸੀ? ਇਕ ਬੀਬੀ ਜੋ ਵੁੱਡਬ੍ਰਿਜ, ਕੈਨੇਡਾ ਵਾਲੇ ਪਾਸੇ ਤੋਂ ਆਈ ਬੈਠੀ ਸੀ, ਓਹਨੇ ਸਾਡੀ ਗੱਲਬਾਤ ਵਿੱਚ ਵਿਘਨ ਪਾ ਦਿੱਤਾ।
ਫਿਰ ਮੈਂ ਅਖੌਤੀ ਜੱਥੇਦਾਰ ਜੀ ਨੂੰ ਕਿਹਾ, ‘‘ਚਲੋ ਦਸਮ ਗ੍ਰੰਥ ਨੂੰ ਛੱਡ ਦਿੰਦੇ ਹਾਂ ਤੇ ਗੱਲ ਗੁਰੂ ਗ੍ਰੰਥ ਸਾਹਿਬ ਦੀ ਕਰਦੇ ਹਾਂ। ਜੱਥੇਦਾਰ ਜੀ ਇਹ ਦੱਸੋ ਕਿ ਤੁਸੀਂ ਗੁਰੂ ਗ੍ਰੰਥ ਸਾਹਿਬ ਨੂੰ ਪੂਰਾ ਗੁਰੂ ਮੰਨਦੇ ਹੋ ਜਾਂ ਨਹੀਂ?’’ ਹੁਣ ਜੇ ਤਾਂ ਜੱਥੇਦਾਰ ਜੀ ਇਹ ਕਹਿੰਦੇ ਹਨ ਕਿ ਮੈਂ ਗੁਰੂ ਗ੍ਰੰਥ ਸਾਹਿਬ ਨੂੰ ਪੂਰਾ ਗੁਰੂ ਮੰਨਦਾ ਹਾਂ, ਤਾਂ ਵੁਹ ਆਪ ਹੀ ਇਸ ਦਲੀਲ ਨਾਲ ਦਸਮ ਗ੍ਰੰਥ ਨੂੰ ਕੱਟਦਾ ਹੈ। ਜੇ ਓਹ ਇਹ ਕਹਿੰਦਾ ਹੈ ਕਿ ਮੈਂ ਗੁਰੂ ਗ੍ਰੰਥ ਸਾਹਿਬ ਨੂੰ ਪੂਰਾ ਗੁਰੂ ਨਹੀਂ ਮੰਨਦਾ, ਤਾਂ ਉਹ ਸਿੱਖ ਹੀ ਨਹੀਂ। ਇਸ ਕਰਕੇ ਉਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਨੇ ਨਾ ਹਾਂ ਕੀਤੀ ਅਤੇ ਨਾਹੀ ਨਾ ਕੀਤੀ। ਫਿਰ ਇਹੀ ਔਰਤ ਬੋਲੀ ਕਿ ਇਹ ਵੀ ਕੋਈ ਸਵਾਲ ਹਨ ਤੇ ਕਾਫੀ ਸਾਰਾ ਸਮਾਂ ਬੋਲਦੀ ਹੀ ਗਈ। ਇੱਥੇ ਆ ਕੇ ਸਾਡੀ ਗੱਲਬਾਤ ਬੰਦ ਹੋ ਗਈ ਤੇ ਵੀਡੀਓ ਰਿਕਾਰਡਿੰਗ ਵੀ ਬੰਦ ਕਰ ਦਿੱਤੀ ਗਈ।
ਇਸ ਤੋਂ ਬਾਅਦ ਘਰ ਦੇ ਸੱਜਣ ਜੱਥੇਦਾਰ ਜੀ ਨੂੰ ਘਰ ਵਾਲੇ ਦੂਜੇ ਵਾਸੇ ਡ੍ਰਾਇੰਗ ਰੂਪ ਵਿੱਚ ਲੈ ਗਏ, ਜਿੱਥੇ ਬੈਠ ਕੇ ਉਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਚਾਹ-ਪਾਣੀ ਪੀਤਾ। ਇਸ ਤੋਂ ਬਾਅਦ ਘਰ ਵਾਲਿਆਂ ਨੇ ਘਰ ਵਿੱਚ ਚਰਣ ਪਾਉਣ ਦੇ ਏਵਜ਼ ’ਚ ਪੈਰਾਂ ’ਤੇ ਭਰੇ ਹੋਏ ਲਿਫਾਫੇ ਸਮੇਤ ਮੱਥਾ ਟੇਕਿਆ ਤੇ ਘਰ ਵਾਲੀ ਬੀਬੀ ਨੂੰ ਕਾਫੀ ਵੱਡਾ ਸਾਰਾ ਪਲਾਸਟਿਕ ਦਾ ਕੈਰੀ ਬੈਗ ਲੈ ਕੇ ਨੀਚੇ ਆਉਂਦੀ ਨੂੰ ਮੈਂ ਆਪਣੀਆਂ ਅੱਖਾਂ ਨਾਲ ਵੇਖਿਆ। ਜੱਥੇਦਾਰ ਜੀ ਸਮਝ ਗਏ ਸਨ ਕਿ ਬਲਾ ਟਲ ਗਈ ਹੈ ਤੇ ਖਿੜ-ਖਿੜ ਕਰਕੇ ਹੱਸ ਰਹੇ ਸਨ।

In February, 1971, Apollo 14 astronaut Edgar Mitchell experienced the little understood phenomenon sometimes called the "Overview Effect". He describes being completely engulfed by a profound sense of universal connectedness. Without warning, he says, a feeing of bliss, timelessness, and connectedness began to overwhelm him. He describes becoming instantly and profoundly aware that each of his constituent atoms were connected to the fragile planet he saw in the window and to every other atom in the Universe. He described experiencing an intense awareness that Earth, with its humans, other animal species, and systems were all one synergistic whole. He says the feeling that rushed over him was a sense of interconnected euphoria. He was not the first—nor the last—to experience this strange "cosmic connection".
Rusty Schweikart experienced it on March 6th 1969 during a spacewalk outside his Apollo 9 vehicle: "When you go around the Earth in an hour and a half, you begin to recognize that your identity is with that whole thing. That makes a change…it comes through to you so powerfully that you're the sensing element for Man." Schweikart, similar to what Mitchell experienced, describes intuitively sensing that everything is profoundly connected.
Their experiences, along with dozens of other similar experiences described by other astronauts, intrigue scientists who study the brain. This "Overview Effect", or acute awareness of all matter as synergistically connected, sounds somewhat similar to certain religious experiences described by Buddhist monks, for example. Where does it come from and why?
Andy Newberg, a neuroscientist/physician with a background in space medicine, is learning how to identify the markers of someone who has had the experience. "You can often tell when you're with someone who has flown in space," he says, "It's palpable." Andy scans brains for a living: praying nuns, transcendental mediators, and others in the act of focused states.
Newberg can pinpoint regions in subjects' gray matter that correlate to these circumstances. Newberg is seriously looking at how to fly equipment that could study—in action—the brain functions of space travelers. If this Overview Effect is a real, physiological phenomenon—he wants to watch it happen.
Newberg's first test subject will not be a paid astronaut, but rather a paying space tourist: Reda Andersen slated to fly with Rocketplane Kistler says, "It would be criminal NOT to study the first of us (space adventure travelers)."
After decades of study and contemplation about his experience, Ed Mitchell believes that the feeling of "oneness" with the Universe that he and others have experienced is a consequence of little understood quantum physics.
In a recent interview with writer Diana deRegnier of American Chronicle, Mitchell explains how the event changed his life and his entire perspective on the world and how each of us fits into the grand scale of the cosmos.
"Four hundred years ago. the philosopher Rene Descartes came to the conclusion that physicality, spirituality, mind and body belonged to different realms of reality that didn't interact. Now, that served the purpose to get the Inquisition off the backs of the intellectuals so they could disagree on material things with the church and without the fear of being burned at the stake. So that ended that, but it did cause, for four hundred years, science to consider consciousness and mind a subject for philosophy and religion and not a subject for science.
Now, one of the things that happened, in the 1940s, was the mathematician, physicist, Norbert Wiener (MIT, Massachusetts Institute of Technology) for the first time really defined information as the negative of entropy, and entropy as the idea of the universe is running down and wastes energy. But, Wiener defined information as the negative of entropy, and that's wonderful but it didn't go far enough."
Mitchell says that in an attempt to fill in some of the missing gap, the 2008 revised edition of his book The Way of the Explorer explores the largely ignored science of human consciousness. Using what he calls the "dyadic model" he outlines the "two faces" of energy. "Instead of being two separate things, it's the energy as the basis of our existence in matter. And, it's the basis of our knowing and information," Mitchell explains.
"We had not had, in science, a definition of consciousness. The only definition of consciousness from the dictionary is that at its basic level it is awareness. Consciousness means to be aware, and then we have different levels of consciousness depending upon how complex the substance is. It has been demonstrated many times over in laboratories that basic awareness is demonstrable at the level of plants, at simple bacteria, at simple life forms.
This is done with Faraday cages. It's shown that this information at this deep level, at the quantum level, can transcend electromagnetic theory. And, now we're getting into quantum physics and we don´t want to go there at this point. But it's a very fundamental notion that awareness is at the very basis of things."
Mitchell believes that perhaps both the theologians and scientists have missed the mark.
"All I can suggest to the mystic and the theologian is that our gods have been too small; they fill the universe. And to the scientist all I can say is that the gods do exist; they are the eternal, connected, and aware Self experienced by all intelligent beings.'
In response to DeRegnier questioning whether or not Mitchell believes in the idea of God, he responds that while he does not believe in the traditional "grandfather figure" version of God, "we do have great mystery about what is the origin of the universe, how it came to be. There's a great deal of question as to whether the big bang is the correct answer to the way the universe arose, and under what auspices and conditions. I don't think we have the full answers to that yet. Hopefully in due course we'll be able to find a much better way to describe all this."
But while Mitchell does not claim to know how to perfectly interpret his experience, he is certain that it was a glimpse into a largely ignored reality: People, places and things are all more closely connected than they sometimes appear. He also mentions the need for better stewardship of our precious planet.
"The great thinker Buckminster Fuller, philosopher, now deceased but for a goodly portion of the twentieth century, pointed out at the beginning of our space exploration that we are the crew of 'space ship earth'. But we 're a crew of mutiny and how can you run a space ship with a mutinous crew?"

Well i myself is very much interested in Sikh culture the reason being that i was born and broght up in a Sikh family where we keep up with the traditions to instill the culture within young bloods.. Now that i have grown up from that stage and facing the need of the sulture to be able to follow the right path which is taught in the books of religion(Sikh) but my question is what is more important sikhisn or spirtuality . ..

Here we have laid stres to Sikhism in particular as this forum is all abt it but putting my thoughts forward .. every religion more or less teaches us the same things .. then why only Sikhism.. and to keep pace with the running world more then religion we need peace of mind spirtuality clear thoughts then why are we running to save Sikh culture why not we intend to change the way of thinking that more then this religion what is important is how to use any religion to ur best like meditation.. yoga .. what gud will our history provide us to us ...

STROKE IDENTIFICATION:
During aparty, a friend stumbled and took a little fall - she assured everyone that she was fine and just tripped over a brick because of her new shoes. (they offered to call ambulance)

They got her cleaned up and got her a new plate of food - while she appeared a bit shaken up, Ingrid went about enjoying herself the rest of the evening. Ingrid's husband called later telling everyone that his wife had been taken to the hospital - (at 6:00pm , Ingrid passed away.)
She had suffered a stroke at the party. Had they known how to identify the signs of a stroke, perhaps Ingrid would be with us today.

Some don't die. They end up in a helpless, hopeless condition instead. It only takes a minute to read this...
STROKE IDENTIFICATION:
A neurologist says that if he can get to a stroke victim within 3 hours he can totally reverse the effects of a stroke...totally. He said the trick was getting a stroke recognized, diagnosed, and then getting the patient medically cared for within 3 hours, which is tough.

RECOGNIZING A STROKE

Remember the '3' steps, STR . Read and Learn!
Sometimes symptoms of a stroke are difficult to identify. Unfortunately, the lack of awareness spells disaster.
The stroke victim may suffer severe brain damage when people nearby fail to recognize the symptoms of a stroke.
Now doctors say a bystander can recognize a stroke by askingthree simple questions:
S* Ask the individual to SMILE .
T* = TALK. Ask the person to SPEAK A SIMPLESENTENCE (Coherently) (eg 'It is sunny out today').
R* Ask him or her to RAISE BOTH ARMS .

If he or she has trouble with ANY ONE of these tasks, call the ambulance and describe the symptoms to the dispatcher.

NOTE : Another 'sign' of a stroke is
1.Ask the person to 'stick' out their tongue.
2.If the tongue is 'crooked', if it goes to one side or the other that is also an indication of a stroke.

I believe in Sikhism and a question has raised in my mind while listening the shabad of Guru Nanak Dev ji as they have said" Eh Janeu ji ka Hai tan pande ghat" As they have criticised for wearing a janju for hindus, But I have been advised to wear the gatra. Janju simbolises Hinduism and gatra sikism. So If guru Nanak dav ji says Hindus nees not to have simbols to be be Hindus why do we?

Thanks for asking this very important question. You have rightly quoted the bani of Guru Nanak Dev Ji.

Let us understand the difference between janju and gatra. While Janju is a thread of Hindus which is worn by Hindus. This thread discriminates between Brahamins, Khatris and Vaishvas. While Branhamins wear three layred janju, khatris wear two-layred and vaishwas wear single layred janju. The low caste people are not allowed to wear any janju. there is no explanation for not alowilng shudras to wear this sacred thread of Hindus caled Janju. On the other hand, Sikhs are ordained to wear sword hung from the gatra as a symbol of Shakti and all sikhs are supposed to wear it without any discrimination. The Kirpan is one of the five essential symbols as mark of identify of Sikhs. The Kirpan is to be used in self-defence and makes a Sikh self-confident and brave every ready to sacrifice for the upliftment of down troden and oppressed class of people. Kirpan is to be used only when all other efforts fail to obtain justice for all.

You have, I think, clearly understood the difference between the "JANJU'" and "GATRA WITH KIRPAN'. GATRA without SWORD has no meaning.
