Contrary to the popular belief that Bhagat Beni Ji was from brahmin background we find a the following two Vars from Bhai Gurdas which prove that he was from deprived sections.

As per the following var we find Bhagat Beni Ji saying that he has gone to the door of the King. As only outcaste are known to the door of the King and denied entry, Brahmin can go and even sit on the thrown of the King.

Likewise term Aalaai means to speak or to describe. So Brahmin never speaks at door but enters. So here Bhagat Ji is just telling a story to his family that he is going and speaking to the King at door so that they do not press him for money.

Vaar 10 Pauri 14 Beni

guramukhi baynee bhagati kari jaai ikaantu bahai|iv|aavai|
Saint Beni, a gurmukh, used to sit in solitude and would enter a meditative trance.

karam karai adhiaatamee horasu kisai n alakhu|akhaavai|
He would perform spiritual activities and in humbleness would never tell anyone.

ghari aaiaa jaa puchheeai raaj duaari gaiaa aalaavai|
Reaching back home when asked, he would tell people that he had gone to the door of his king (the Supreme Lord).

ghari sabh vadoo mangeeani valu chhalu kari kai jhat|aghaavai|
When his wife asked for some household material he would avoid her and thus spend his time performing spiritual activities.

vadaa saangu varatadaa aoh ik mani paramaysaru dhiaavai|
One day while concentrating on the Lord with single-minded devotion, a strange miracle happened.

paij savaarai bhagat dee raajaa hoi kai ghari chali aavai|
To keep the glory of the devotee, God Himself in the form of King went to his house.

dayi dilaasaa tusi kai anaganatee kharachee pahunchaavai|
In great joy, He consoled everyone and made available profuse money for expenditure.

aodahu aaiaa bhagati paasi hoi daiaalu haytu upajaavai|
From there He came to His devotee Beni and compassionately loved him.

bhagat janaan jaikaaru karaavai ॥14॥
This way He arranges applause for His devotees.

Here name of Bhagat Beni is included in Low Born Devotees but Bhai Gurdas ji do not mention the caste as in Punjabi term Churha is derogatory and in Shri Guru Granth Sahib Ji this term is used for some vice

Greed is a dog; falsehood is a filthy street-sweeper. Cheating is eating a rotting carcass.

False-mindedness is the drummer-woman; cruelty is the butcheress; slander of others in one's heart is the cleaning-woman, and deceitful anger is the outcast-woman.

Though he does use the term related to outcaste women in one of his var but is done only to show the status of a Akritghan(a person who back bites to one who benefits him Var 35, Pauri 9), but he never wanted use such term for Bhagat Ji. Otherwise some references are made towards scavenger one related to their existence in the society (Var 8, Pauri 23)while describing the society while other related to their not eating the hare(Var 35, Pauri 12.this is a culture related to one of their Peer, who they behold as incarnation of Lord Valmiki, source Mahan Kosh of Kahan Singh Ji Nabha)

Vaar 12 Pauri 15 Low born selfless devotees

kalajugi naamaa bhagatu hoi dhayri dayhuraa gaai jivaaee|
In kaliyuga, a devotee named Namdev made the temple rotate and dead cow alive.

bhagatu kabeeru vakhaaneeai bandee khaanay tay utdi jaaee|
It is said Kabir used to go out of prison as and when he liked.

dhannaa jatu udhaariaa sadhanaa jaati ajaati kasaaee|
Dhanna, the jatt (farmer) and Sadhana born in a known low cast butcher got across the world ocean.

janu ravidaasu chamaaru hoi chahu varanaa vichi kari vadiaaee|
Considering Ravi Das a devotee of the Lord, all the four varnas praise him.

bayni hoaa adhiaatamee sainu neechu kulu andari naaee|
Beni, the saint was a spiritualist, and born in a so-called low barber caste Sain was a devotee (of Lord).

pairee pai paa khaak hoi gurasikhaan vichi vadee samaaee|
Falling at and becoming the dust of the feet is the great trance for the Sikhs of the Guru (their caste should not be considered).

alakhu|akhaai n alakhu|akhaaee ॥15॥
The devotees, though they behold the imperceptible Lord, yet do not disclose this to anyone.

WHATS the POINT being made here ? So what IF the Bhagat was a "C**** or not ??
Sri Guru Granth Sahib Ji doesnt give two hoots to caste...why should we ??
I Failed to see the point...CASTE is TABOO in GURMATT..we should "mention" it as little as possible..best NOT AT ALL....especially in reference to a BHAGAT..
Already enough trouble caused by associating caste to bahagat ravidass Ji..now is there an agenda to get the CH***** to make Bhagat beni a separate GURU..and go the way of the Ravidassis ?? IF we keep saying Bhagat beni is a CH***** in time people will get the hint...
