In the US the problems of drug addiction hit every social class, every ethnic group,men and women, as do the related problems of drug associated HIV infection. It may be useless to talk about why and how it all began. It may not matter what started this deadly trend. It might make more sense to talk about how to begin to solve this problem, and to look at strategies that have worked. But know full well that drug addiction once it takes hold in communities is very difficult to resolve.
